The fight against poverty is led first and foremost by the people living in the midst of it. We work in 10 countries in Africa and Asia, together with local partners who know the conditions best.
Bangladesh
Climate challenges and natural disasters hit women and children hard. We work to improve opportunities for education and income and to help people become more resilient in the face of climate change.
Burkina Faso
Almost one in ten residents has had to flee due to violence and unrest. Children and young people get a new chance at schooling through the accelerated learning program Speed School. Women are trained in reading, writing and life skills – and given the opportunity to earn their own income.
Kenya
Climate change, population growth and poverty affect access to education, work and safe living conditions. We work on sustainable solutions in education, life skills, entrepreneurship, energy and the environment in Naboisho in Masai Mara.
Mali
Large youth populations and political unrest create major challenges. Children and young people are therefore given a new chance at schooling through the accelerated learning program Speed School. Women receive training in reading, writing and arithmetic – and the opportunity to earn their own income.
Uganda
Uganda has taken in a large number of refugees, particularly from South Sudan. Daily life is difficult for many, especially children. We support inclusive education and provide opportunities for income and a better livelihood for families and refugees.
Nepal
Discrimination against women and girls creates significant inequalities and prevents many from escaping poverty. We therefore work holistically with families, focusing on education, life skills, work and food security.
Niger
More than half of children between the ages of 7 and 16 do not attend school in Niger. Children and young people are therefore given a new chance at schooling through the accelerated learning program Speed School. Women receive training in reading, writing and arithmetic – and the opportunity to earn their own income.
South Sudan
A country marked by corruption, political instability, armed conflict and displacement. We focus on education, jobs and income, while taking into account the need for peacebuilding, safety, psychosocial support and emergency food security.
Tanzania
Most children start school here, but far fewer finish. We therefore give people the opportunity to learn throughout their lives, especially women, young people, children and groups who are often left behind.
